Executive Director Named For Emil And Patricia A. Jones Convocation Center

CHICAGO (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Chewi Lockhart has been named Executive Director of the Emil and Patricia A. Jones Convocation Center at Chicago State University, VenuWorks President/CEO Steve Peters announced. The Jones Convocation Center is managed by VenuWorks.

Lockhart comes to the Jones Center from the Concrete Street Amphitheater in Corpus Christi, Texas. He also worked at the AmericanBank Center in Corpus Christi and the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Coming to Chicago State is a homecoming of sorts for Lockhart, who in 2001 received his bachelor’s degree from Aurora University in Aurora, Ill and was born and raised in the Chicagoland area. In the summer of 2000, he served as a hospitality intern in the Mayor of Chicago’s Department of Special Events.

“I am excited about my move back to the Chicagoland area,” Lockhart said. “Chicago State has a beautiful campus, and the Emil and Patricia A. Jones Convocation Center reflects that pride. I grew up in the Chicago area, so it means a great deal to me to be able to come back home in this professional position.”

The Emil and Patricia A. Jones Convocation Center officially opened in the fall of 2007. It is a 6,500-seat multipurpose facility. It has hosted concerts, art shows and sporting events. It is home to the Chicago State men’s and women’s basketball teams. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
